Cargill beat- River Tay Lots of fresh running grilse

Cargill beat- River Tay. Today the river is rising after some heavy rain in the western end of the catchment. While this means some extra water the river should remain relatively clear keeping fishing conditions good. This week has seen a stronger run of grilse with lots of fish hooked and seen and a few landed on the rare occasions we have ventured out for a cast. This extra freshet from the west should encpourage yet more fish to run the river. Encouraging to see the grilse we are encountering seem to well proportioned strong little fish around the 4lb mark. We are even regularly seeing fish moving in the tidal water downstream of Perth at high tide. There is some fishing free during July and with fish coming regularly to the fly there is some great sport to be had. Below is an arial shot of the Bridge stream with is one of the best fly pools on the river.
