Cargill Beat Summer Level

Cargill beat is truly at summer level.Over the years strong tongues of flow have worn deep holes in to the ledges of rock producing some of the most attractive lies for salmon on the Tay, especially in lower water conditions salmon pack into the beat and can be quite easily fished for.

Cargill Beat Salmon From The Sands

Ben Thompson with his 15lb Sea Liced Salmon from the ('Sands') Cargill lower beat.

Cargill Beat Great Sport

Cargill had some great sport landing 8 for the week. Ben Thompson and his father Ed had a good two days on the beat and managed to get 3 fish between them. Ben returned 2 fish of 6lb (Bridge Pool) and 15lb ('Sands') from Cargill while his Father returned a fish of 7lb ('sands') all fish were covered in long tailed sea lice. All fish were taken on Tobies. Ben said they had seen a large number of fresh fish during their stay, many more than at same time of year in previous years.

Jim Lowe also had a good day on Cargill with a lovely 12 pounder from the Bridge stream fly fishing and Jane Rutherford had a sea liced 6 pounds salmon from the Cradle.

Cargill Beat Fishing Great

Cargill is now fishing very well with summer level water conditions and good runs of springers going through eah day.

Sport on the fly is now increasing with success for Martin Ferry and John McElroy from the bridge stream with a brace of 15 pounders. Bob Haydock also had a nice 7lber on the fly from Clocksden and Ed Troughton having a great scrap with a 11lber from the Pot Shot. Conditions are only improving and I would expect the coming weeks to get better and better.
