Cargill- River Tay. Tay monsters live on!!
This is what is left of the Beech tree which stood above Mermaids stone on lower Cargill. The rising sap must have been too much for this old tree to take after the hard winter.
This is a bit of a gruesome picture but it proves that monster Tay salmon are still present. From kype to dorsal this corpse is over 2 ft long. As grim as it was i removed some scales and will post the age and an estimation of its weight soon.

Cargil beat- River Tay Dolphin
Cargill beat River Tay- Exciting site today in the River Tay next to the Willowgate trout fishery. A dolphin making its way up river. Crusing quickly around the river it seemed like the animal was feeding. Hopefully this may be a sign of a run of salmon up river as a seal was following close behind. I will post a few better photos next week.

Cargill beat- River Tay
Cargill beat- River Tay. Conditions on the Tay are improving with a slight rise in the air temperature. The river is still low so perfect for flyfishing. Ericht bound fish are starting to run so catches should improve over the coming days. To book a spring day on Cargill follow the Book salmon fishing online link above.

Cargill fishing the fly
Good clear conditions for fly fishing at Cargill. This fish put up a good fight on the fly rod but was unfortunately a well mended kelt. As we enter March all the kelts we catch should be very silver and well mended. If they sucessfully return to salt water the silver colouration gives camouflage.
